Zlatarski International School students in a debates tournament

On February 17 and 18, Zlatarski International School’s debating team took part in the regional public debate tournament in Sofia. Our students competed with representatives of the elite language schools from Sofia, Blagoevgrad, Pravetz, Lovech, Vidin, Vratsa, Pleven and others, attended by more than 350 students. The school was represented by Debora, Diana, Maria and Mihail from the 9B grade, Deniel and Julia from 9C grade, Dinko and Magdalena from the 10A grade and Alexandra, Veselina, Elizaveta, Emil and Mihaela from the 10B class.

In the individual categories Dinko (10A) performed well with an individual speech. In the category of dramatic duets, Magdalena and Elizaveta received 1st and 2nd places from the judges at the ½-finals.

In the debate category, all four teams performed well. In the Novice category, both teams finished with 2 wins and 2 losses. In the Varsity category, the team of Emil, Magdalena and Aleksandra ended with 2 wins and 2 losses but won the prize for sportsmanship. The team of Elizabeth, Michaela and Veselina achieved 3 wins and only 1 loss. Michaela once again took the award for the best speaker in the tournament.
