Zlatarski International School accepts applications to Grade 8 for September 2024.  The School is authorised by Cambridge Assessment International Education and the International Baccalaureate Organisation to offer the world-leading international programmes –  Cambridge Secondary Checkpoint for students aged 13-14, Cambridge IGCSE for students aged 15-16 and the IB Diploma for students aged 17-18.

– Results from first term of 7 grade – above 4,50
– Sitting an admissions exam
– Meeting between the candidates and their parents with the admissions committee
– Approval by the admissions committee according to the admission criteria (overall academic performance, results from the admissions exam, interview and motivation)

Registration for the exam: 
Candidates register at the school by submitting an application form for sitting the exam, signed by the student and the parent. In addition, a copy of the student’s results are submitted – first page and page with marks from term one.

Open Days
Open days are designed for candidates to Zlatarski School and their parents. You will learn about specific aspects of the educational process at the school, the subjects in the IGCSE and IB Diploma Programme, extracurricular activities, preparation for world universities, requirements of the school of its students and the admissions criteria and dates. Students and parents will attend short taster sessions, will learn about the results of our students, will have the opportunity to talk to current students and teachers in different subjects, and they will have the opportunity to look through the textbooks and study guides we use at Zlatarski School.

Preparation for the admissions exam: 
The School provides sample exam papers at registration. The School gives access to preparation materials for the admissions exam online and materials are accessible to all registered candidates through the electronic platform ZIS. Participation in the preparation for the admissions exam is recommended to all students.

Admissions Exam:
The admissions exam is designed according to the material, studied in grade 7 and it takes 2 hours. The exam consists of the following components:

Test Language Competence:            20 questions in Bulgarian language (20 min)
Literature:                                             essay (50 min)
Mathematics:                                       30 problems on the material for grade 7 (50 min)

Announcement of Results:
Announcement of results and the status of candidates: approved, approved under condition, not approved, based on the the ranking of candidates and the approval of the admission committee. The ranking of candidates is based on:
– the results of the three exam components
– overall result (first term or complete 7 grade)
– mark in Bulgarian language and literature (first term or end of year)
– mark in Mathematics (first term or end of year)

Meetings with the Admissions Committee: 
The School organises individual meetings with candidates and their parents. The aim is to establish the academic strengths and the motivation of students. Students applying to Zlatarski School admit and share the values, found in the School’s Mission; aim at achieving high academic results; expresses a willingness to participate actively in school life and aims to contribute to the School’s development as an international educational institution; shows readiness to become a member of the international community as a student at Zlatarski School. Meetings with the admissions committee are scheduled with the admissions office at registration.

Enrolment:
Enrolment takes place within the set deadlines at the School with:
– Document for completed year (gradebook or certificate for completed 7 grade)
– 4 pictures (document format)
– medical card
– paid first installment and a signed contract for tuition, after agreeing with the School Rules and Procedures

English Entry Test for Admitted and Enrolled Students:
All students enrolled in 8 grade at Zlatarski International School sit an English Entry Exam (entrance level). It is used for the successful allocation of students in the relevant classes according to their English proficiency. From 1 September the School organises an English course for those students needing extra English classes.
