Excellent results in the Cambridge Checkpoint exams after Grade 8 in 2020

We have received the results of the Cambridge Secondary Checkpoint, external exams assessed in Cambridge, which the 8th grade students of Zlatarski International High School take at school every year. Due to the pandemic, the exams were held in October 2020. 60 students of Zlatarski High School took the international exams and 19 students received full A’s in English.

After the brilliant success of the Cambridge Checkpoint exams in English and Mathematics last year, this year the results of the students of Zlatarski High School are again excellent. This time the students took the Cambridge Checkpoint exams in English, Mathematics and Natural Sciences in English. Thus, the students finish the year with international certificates in English, Mathematics and Science from Cambridge.

We congratulate all students for their successful participation in the external assessment of Cambridge Assessment: International Education. We congratulate the teachers who encouraged and prepared their students for the international exams. The results, the highest or relatively lower, show the readiness of the students to cope with the studies in grades 9 and 10 at our school and to prepare for both the national external assessment and the international IGCSE exams,” shared Ms. Kardasheva, Principal of Zlatarski International High School.

The highest scores in English on the Cambridge Checkpoint exams were achieved by Niya Yordanova, Anna Walker, Kalina Koinova, Ivana Ivanova, Lamita Basha, Chavdar Slavov, Alexandrina Petkova, Liliya Atanasova, Ivet Yovcheva, Borislav Grebenarov, Daniel Zlatev, Mila Nacheva, Nikol Dimitrova, Gizel Gencheva, Karina Zhelyazkova, Christopher Abrashev, Yulia Yovcheva, Viktor Rusev, Mina Nikolova, Emily Ratkova and Martin Dimitrov.

The English exams consisted of listening, reading, grammar and writing components. In the English component (grammar) we have 24 excellent grades, with the best performers being Alexandrina Petkova, Nikol Dimitrova, Viktor Rusev, Anna Walker, Niya Yordanova, Daniel Zlatev, Gizel Gencheva, Kalina Koinova, Mina Nikolova, Emily Ratkova, Mila Nacheva, Ivana Ivanova, Ivaylo Rusinov, Raya Metodieva, Lamita Basha, Yoana Ivanova, Chavdar Slavov, Liliya Atanasova, Ivet Apostolova, Ivet Yovcheva, Christopher Abrashev, Boris Depin, Borislav Grebenarov, Alexander Ivanov, Yulia Yovcheva.

In the English component (listening), the best performers were Borislav Grebenarov, Daniel Zlatev, Christopher Abrashev, Niya Yordanova, Anna Walker, Kalina Koinova, Ivana Ivanova, Lamita Basha, Chavdar Slavov, Liliya Atanasova, Ivet Yovcheva, Emily Ratkova, Martin Dimitrov and Atanas Dimitrov.

In the English component (reading), the best performers were Karina Zhelyazkova, Martin Dimitrov, Mina Nikolova, Teodor Hristov, Alexandrina Petkova, Nikol Dimitrova, Viktor Rusev, Kalina Todorova, Andrey Sachkov, Alexander Radulov, Niya Yordanova, Anna Walker, Kalina Koinova, Ivana Ivanova, Lamita Basha, Chavdar Slavov, Liliya Atanasova, Ivet Yovcheva, Daniel Zlatev.

In the English component (writing), the best performers were Anna Walker, Borislav Grebenarov, Niya Yordanova, Nikol Dimitrova, Viktor Rusev, Gizel Gencheva, Mila Nacheva, Viktor Toshev, Bojana Rasheva, Kamen Vassilev, Kristian Georgiev, Yulia Yovcheva.

The highest results in mathematics in the Cambridge Checkpoint exams were achieved by Atanas Dimitrov, Borislav Grebenarov, Kalina Koinova, Martin Dimitrov, Alexandrina Petkova, Andrey Sachkov, Daniel Zlatev.

The mathematics exams included components in algebra, geometry and data manipulation. In the mathematics component (algebra), the best performers were Atanas Dimitrov, Andrey Sachkov, Daniel Zlatev, Martin Dimitrov, Alexandrina Petkova, Borislav Grebenarov.

In the mathematics component (geometry), the best performers were Atanas Dimitrov, Martin Dimitrov, Borislav Grebenarov, Andrey Sachkov and Kalina Koinova.

In the mathematics component (data manipulation), the best performers were Atanas Dimitrov, Borislav Grebenarov, Martin Dimitrov, Alexandrina Petkova, Kalina Koinova, Ivet Apostolova, Daniel Zlatev, Viktor Rusev and Andrey Sachkov.

In the natural sciences (biology, physics, chemistry), the best performers were Atanas Dimitrov and Nikol Dimitrova.

Our students will receive their Cambridge Checkpoint certificates at a special ceremony at school, which will take place in the period 4.03.2021 – 17.03.2021.

The Cambridge Checkpoint program at Zlatarski International School prepares our students from grade 8 for their studies in the international IGCSE program in grades 9 and 10, as well as the International Baccalaureate in grades 11 and 12. Students are introduced to the exam environment and the rules of international exams.
