Cambridge IGCSE: Results of Zlatarski International School of Sofia students in 2023
We are proud of the results of the 10th grade students of Zlatarski International School, who took the Cambridge IGCSE exams in English, Mathematics, History, Information Technology, Biology and Physics in 2023. Thanks to the hard work of teachers and students, the 10th graders achieved 32 excellent A grades. A score between A and C on IGCSE is positively evaluated by world universities, certifying readiness for successful study according to international standards.
Winners of the international IGCSE exams in 10th grade: The highest results were received by Niya Karamfilova (AAAC) in Biology, English, History and Mathematics; Deyan Ivanov (AABB) in Physics, Mathematics, English and History; Silvi Koleva (AAC) in English, History and Mathematics; Alina Drangazhova (A*A), Mira Kaneva (AA) and Victoria Grozdanova (AA) in English and History; Amalia Markova (A*BBC) in English, Mathematics, History and Biology; Alexander Sharpe (A*BBCC) in English, Mathematics, Information Technology, Physics and History; Stefan Oresharov (ABBC) in Information Technology, Mathematics, English and History; Nikol Dimitrova (ABC) and Stefani Syarova (A*BC) in English, Mathematics and History. In IGCSE English (Higher Level), 85% of students were assessed by Cambridge with scores of A – C, and 5 students received the maximum A*.

The Cambridge IGCSE English exams include components in listening, reading, speaking and writing. 21 students achieved excellent results, with 5 students receiving the maximum A* score (score above 90%); These are: Alina Drangazhova A, Stefani Syarova A, Alexander Sharpe A, Amalia Markova A and Mila Manos A*. Excellent A results (over 80%) in English were received by Niya Karamfilova, Mira Kaneva, Deyan Ivanov, Izabela Madzharova, Lidiya Galabova, Boyan Kabakchiev, Hadi Halawi, Anastasia Karamanova, Martin Boyanov, Mina Pavlova, Mikhail Gaydarov, Antoaneta Ivanova, Silvi Koleva, Victoria Grozdanova, Kamen Kostadinov, Nancy Hristova. The results of Elizabeth Vangelova, Boris Milev, Ivan Mihaylov, Alexandra Yotova, Ventsislava Stoykova, Boris Kostadinov, Todor Samardzhiev, Sevay Atakan, Edze Aksoy, Ivaylo Timanov, Stefan Oresharov, Silvia Stoitseva and Anton Ivanov.
Mathematics: The best results in IGCSE Mathematics (high level) were achieved by: Ece Aksoy, Stefan Oresharov, Anton Ivanov, Amalia Markova, Boris Milev, Deyan Ivanov, Alexander Sharpe. Good results were achieved by Martin Boyanov, Mikhail Gaydarov, Ivaylo Timanov, Niya Karamfilova, Hadi Halawi, Stefani Syarova, Antoaneta Ivanova, Anastasia Karamanova, Sevay Atakan and Silvi Koleva. The mathematics exams included questions in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, vectors, probability theory and statistics.

History: In IGCSE History this year, Alina Drangazhova, Niya Karamfilova, Viktoria Grozdanova, Silvia Stoitseva, Mila Manos, Mira Kaneva, Silvi Koleva performed very well. Deyan Ivanov, Sevay Atakan, Amalia Markova and Stefani Syarova also performed very well. Good results were achieved by Stefan Oresharov, Anastasia Karamanova, Alexander Sharp, Elizabeth Vangelova, Nancy Hristova, Boris Milev and Lidiya Galabova. The history exams included components such as World War I, World War II, the creation of the League of Nations and the United Nations.
The highest scores in IGCSE Information Technology were Stefan Oresharov, Alexander Sharpe, Ece Aksoy and Ivaylo Timanov. The IT exams consist of 60% practical exams and test knowledge on databases, spreadsheets, computer networks, applications, file management and security. The highest scores in IGCSE Biology (Higher Level) and Physics (Higher Level) were Niya Karamfilova, Deyan Ivanov, Amalia Markova, Alexander Sharp and Boris Milev. The biology exams were on the sections: organisms, movement in and out of cells, biological molecules, enzymes, nutrition in plants and humans, respiration, diseases and immunity. The physics exams covered topics such as motion, forces, thermodynamics, waves, electricity and magnetism and nuclear physics.
Our students received their Cambridge IGCSE certificates at a special ceremony at school.

Anna Walker (Class of 2024) achieved maximum IGCSE results (AAAA) in English, History, Mathematics and Information Technology.
Atanas Dimitrov (Class of 2024) achieved IGCSE results (A*AAA) in Mathematics, English, History and Physics.
Borislav Grebenarov (Class of 2024) achieved IGCSE results (A*AAA) in English, Mathematics, IT and History.
Nina Chakinska (Class of 2023) achieved IGCSE results (AAAA) in English, Mathematics, History and Biology.
The IGCSE record for the school was set by Dimitar Kostov (Class of 2023), who achieved maximum AAAA in Mathematics, English, Information Technology and History. He graduated from high school with an IB Diploma with 42 points with maximum grades of 7 (out of 7) in Mathematics, Physics, English and Economics and an excellent Bulgarian diploma with 6.00.

IGCSE (International General Certificate for Secondary Education) is an academic secondary education program in which students aged 14-16 are educated in the UK, as well as in prestigious international schools around the world. The education ends with external exams that are assessed in Cambridge.
Integrated into the English language high school curriculum, the IGCSE program at Zlatarski International High School prepares our students to cope with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in grades 11 and 12 and to consolidate their knowledge in their chosen profiles in the second stage of high school.
