Beginning of the 2026-2027 School Year

Dear Students, Dear Parents,

The first day of the school year at Zlatarski International School is 15 September (Tuesday).

The school has established the following schedule of activities for the first day of school:

The opening of the new 2026/2027 academic year will take place in the school courtyard with a short ceremony beginning at 10:00 am.

Students are expected to arrive at 9:30 a.m.

All students should be dressed in the approved formal attire (white shirts/blouses, dark trousers/skirts, and dark shoes).

Parents of our newly admitted students are welcome to attend the ceremony in the school courtyard. We kindly remind you that parents are not permitted to enter the school buildings.

Class activities will continue until 12:30 pm. They will take place by class in school buildings D-1 and D-2.

The first day is intended to familiarize students with the school rules and regulations and the academic programs for the first semester. Students will receive a temporary timetable, which will be published on the ZIS platform. On 16 September (Wednesday), regular classes will begin at 8:00 a.m. and finish at 2:15 p.m.

The class lists and homeroom teachers will be displayed on 15 September (Tuesday) in the courtyard of Zlatarski International School at the entrances to D1, D2, and D3 (the entrance next to the gymnasium). Upon arrival in the courtyard, teachers will be available to provide assistance and directions.

Textbooks, Uniforms, Notebooks, and School Lockers:
On 15 September (Tuesday), students will receive the uniforms and notebooks that have already been paid for. Textbook sets and school locker keys will be distributed according to a list, in the presence of the homeroom teacher, on 16 September 2026.

School Uniform:
Starting from 16 September, students are required to come to school wearing the approved school uniform: uniform polo shirt and dark-blue vest/sweater, with dark trousers/skirt.

The school has additional uniform sets available for purchase by students and parents on 9, 10 and 11 September, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., until supplies run out. They will be available at the school cafeteria/buffet.

Transportation:
On 15 September, parents who have requested school transportation should confirm the stops and departure time with representatives of the transportation company. This will take place after the ceremony, in the school courtyard in front of the stage, starting at 11:00 a.m. School transportation will begin on 16 September (Wednesday).

Catering:
The catering service will begin on 16 September (Wednesday). Homeroom teachers will explain the arrangements for school lunches during the first day of school.

Educational, Medical, and Financial Documents:
Parents who have not yet submitted the required educational and medical documents should submit them to the school’s administrative office during the period 9–11 September.

Personal Preventive Health Record:
All newly enrolled students who have received a new Personal Preventive Health Record from their personal physician must hand it to their homeroom teacher on 16 September. The record includes information from the preventive medical examination; vaccinations and booster vaccinations; any specific illnesses and allergies; and, where applicable, a medical commission’s statement regarding exemption from physical education classes. The deadline for submitting the health records for all other students is 30 September 2026.

Grade 11 Students:
For Grade 11 students, the academic year begins on 8 September (Tuesday) at 9:00 a.m. with an IB Retreat. On 8 and 9 September, students will be introduced to the IB Regulations and Zlatarski International School Requirements for IB Students. A summary of the curriculum for each IB subject will be presented, together with the Internal Calendar, which contains deadlines for submitting written assignments and projects. All students will participate in CAS activities and will prepare their individual CAS program during the two-day IB Retreat. At the end of the two-day program, each student will sign an agreement confirming that they will comply with the regulations of the IB program.

Grade 12 Students – Candidates for the Full IB Diploma:
On 8 and 9 September, individual consultations with teachers will be held according to a pre-arranged schedule. The consultations will cover the internal and external assessment components prepared during the summer holiday. The schedule will be published on the ZIS electronic platform. These consultations are a mandatory requirement for maintaining the student’s status in the IB program.

We would like to thank the students and parents who traditionally bring flowers. This year, we would be delighted if you chose instead to bring a potted plant, which will enrich the school environment and remain as a lasting sign of your thoughtfulness.

We look forward to welcoming our students back rested, responsible, and ready to contribute to a successful new 2026–2027 academic year!

Sincerely,

Tsvetana Kardasheva
