Beginning of the 2025-2026 School Year
Dear Students, dear Parents,
The first day of school for Zlatarski International School is September 15th (Monday).
The school has set the following schedule of activities for the first day:
The opening of the new 2025/2026 academic year will take place in the schoolyard with a brief ceremony, which will begin at 10:00 am.
We expect students to arrive by 9:30 am.
All students should be dressed in the official attire (white shirts/blouses, dark trousers/skirts, and dark shoes).
Parents of our newly enrolled students are welcome to join us in the schoolyard. Kindly note that parents are not allowed to enter the school buildings.
Classes will continue until 12:30 pm. They will be held in the classrooms in the school buildings D1 and D2.
The day is designated for introducing students to the school rules, regulations, and the academic programs for the first term. Students will receive a temporary academic timetable, which will be published on the ZIS platform. On September 16th (Tuesday), regular classes will begin at 8:00 AM and end at 2:15 PM.
Class lists and the names of class teachers will be posted on September 15th (Monday) in the schoolyard at the entrance to D1, D2, and D3 (entrance by the gymnasium). Upon arrival in the schoolyard, you will receive assistance and guidance from the teachers.
Textbooks, uniforms, notebooks, and school lockers:
On September 15th (Monday), students will receive their pre-booked uniforms and notebooks. The textbook sets and school locker keys will be distributed according to the list in the presence of the class mentor on September 16th, 2025.
Uniform attire:
Starting from September 16th, students are required to come to school in the established uniform attire (uniform polo shirt and dark blue cardigan/pullover/hoodie, dark trousers/skirt).
The school has additional sets of uniforms available for purchase by students and parents on September 10th, 11th, and 12th, from 8:00am to 2:00am – until supplies last – from the school’s canteen.
Transportation:
On September 15th, parents who have requested school transport should confirm the stops and departure time with the representatives of the transport company. This will take place after the ceremony in the schoolyard, near the stage, starting at 11:00am. School transportation will begin on September 16th (Tuesday).
NB! Parents can still request the transportation service at the school’s financial department from September 1st to 10th.
Catering:
The catering service will start on September 16th (Tuesday). The class mentors will explain the organization of the school lunch during the first school day.
NB! Parents can request the catering service at the school’s financial office from September 1st to 10th. Requests should be made before each individual quarter of the school year.
Educational, medical, and financial documents:
Parents who have not yet submitted the required educational and medical documents should do so at the administrative office of the school on September 10th, 11th, and 12th.
NB! Financial obligations for the first and second instalment (due by August 29th) must be settled. Failure to submit these documents will prevent the registration of students in official national and international educational platforms.
Personal health-prophylactic card:
All newly enrolled students who have received a new Personal Health-Prophylactic Card (from their family doctor) should submit it to their class mentor on September 16th. It must include information from a preventive medical check-up, immunizations, specific diseases, allergies, and a statement from a medical commission regarding exemption from physical education classes. The deadline for submitting the Health-Prophylactic Card for all other students is September 30th, 2024.
For 11th grade students:
The academic year begins on September 9th (Tuesday) at 9:00 am with the IB Retreat. On September 9th and 10th, the IB Regulations and Zlatarski International School Requirements for IB students will be explained. The curriculum for each IB subject will be summarized, and the Internal Calendar, containing deadlines for written assignments and projects, will be presented. All students will participate in CAS activities and prepare their individual CAS programs during the two-day IB Retreat. At the end of the program, each student will sign a contract agreeing to follow the IB program regulations.
For 12th grade students applying for the Full IB Diploma:
On September 9th and 10th, individual consultations will be held with teachers according to a pre-arranged schedule regarding internal and external assessment components completed during the summer vacation. The schedule will be published on the ZIS platform. Consultations are a mandatory requirement for the student’s status in the IB program.
We would like to express our gratitude to the students and parents who traditionally bring flowers – this year, we would appreciate it if you would prefer a potted plant, which will enrich the school environment and remain as a token of your attention.
We look forward to welcoming our students, rested, responsible, and ready to contribute to a successful 2025–2026 academic year!
Sincerely,
Tsvetana Kardasheva
Headteacher of Zlatarski International School
