Learning beyond the classroom: School Trips for Zlatarski International School
Learning Beyond the Classroom! At Zlatarski International School in Sofia, education doesn’t stop in the classroom. Our students explore new places, cultures, and perspectives through school trips — historical cities, nature and international destinations.

Learning through Experience: an Educational trip to Plovdiv!
This autumn, students and teachers from Zlatarski International School visited Plovdiv – one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Europe. We began with visits to the Ancient Forum, Roman Stadium, and Dzhumaya mosque, where students learned more about the ancient city and the coexistence of different cultures through the centuries. At thе Hindilyanov house, we immersed ourselves in the atmosphere of the spirit of Old Plovdiv. Nebet Tepe offered an impressive view of the city, while the Roman aqueduct revealed the remarkable engineering skills of the ancient Romans. The excursion included a visit to the Cathedral of St. Ludwig, a symbol of Plovdiv’s spiritual and cultural diversity. The day turned into a truly living lesson in history and culture. The trip brought new knowledge, friendships, and unforgettable memories for everyone who took part!

Zlatina Y (Grade 11): I enjoyed the trip to Plovdiv. I was impressed by the Hindliyanov House, where we saw a lavish arrangement with hand-painted paintings and rose water that constantly flows and smells.
Yordan D (Grade 11): The speaker at the Hindliyanov House told interesting facts about the life of the rich Armenian silk merchant, who managed to build one of the most beautiful homes in Plovdiv.
Erik A (Grade 11): The best thing about the school trip was the teamwork and bonding between us. A great day!

Learning through Experience: A Living History Lesson with a school trip to Panagyurishte! Students and teachers from Zlatarski International School embarked on an educational trip to Panagyurishte. At the History Museum, students saw the world-famous Panagyurishte Gold Treasure and learned more about its fascinating history. They then visited the Raina Knyaginya House Museum, where they heard the inspiring story of the woman who sewed the flag of the April Uprising. The program also included visits to Tutev’s House, where the freedom of Panagyurishte was proclaimed and the Apriltsi Memorial Complex, built in honor of the heroes of the uprising. The trip turned into a living history lesson, encouraging students to ask questions and connect theory with real-life experiences. The journey also brought together students from different grades and their teachers, creating new friendships and unforgettable memories.

Petya V (Grade 7): The House of Raina Knyaginya impressed me with the facts from the heroine’s life, presented in a film. In the History Museum I saw unique necklaces, scythes with rich decoration and fine workmanship.
Alexandra V (Grade 7): I was happy when we had the opportunity to play in the city park by the fountains. It was fun!
Petros P (Grade 7): I liked the Panagyurishte Golden Treasure the most and the talk where we learned about the history of its discovery.
These experiences enriched our students’ understanding of the world and strengthened friendships that last a lifetime.
