Baccalauareate Diploma Programme
Zlatarski International School is the first school
in Bulgaria to become a member of the International Baccalaureate Organisation.
Since 2003, Zlatarski School is one of more than 1,500 schools authorized
to offer IB programmes in 115 countries. We have been teaching the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for 5 years and so far more than 70 students have successfully gained their IB Diplomas at Zlatarski. This has allowed our graduates to pursue successfully their university studies in some of the world's most prestigeous universities.

What is the International Baccalaureate Diploma?
The International Baccalaureate Organization’s
Diploma Program is a demanding pre-university
course of study, which is designed for highly
motivated secondary school students aged 16 to 19. The IB Diploma is a two-year
program which a student undertakes in his/her
final two years of study. The IB Diploma is
recognized for university admissions and/or
advanced standing in many countries around
the world. The teaching is in English.
International Baccalaureate Organization The International Baccalaureate Organization
is a non-profit educational organization that
was established in 1968 in Switzerland. The
IBO, as it describes itself "aims to
develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring
young people who help to create a better and
more peaceful world through intercultural

Choice of Subjects Students
study six subject areas,
at least three of them at high level. The
interdisciplinary course Theory of Knowledge
(TOK), the Creativity, Action, Service (CAS)
programme and the Extended Essay are inseperable
and fundamental parts of the IB diploma. Students
who are not full IB Diploma candidates may
elect to take examinations in any subject
and will receive a single-subject
certificate.
The Diploma Programme’s grading system is
criterion-referenced, which means that each
student’s performance is measured against
well-defined levels of achievement. These
are consistent from one examination session
to the next and are applied equally to all
schools. The programme has earned a reputation
for rigorous assessment, giving IB diploma
holders access to the world’s leading universities.
